Yes. Ugh, he's just...I wouldn't care if he was just knowingly, maliciously telling me lies. I could deal with that. But no, he's just delusional. He believes things that are not true.

Well, okay. He's a treasure hunter, right? Goes on private expeditions, robs tombs, whatever. We were discussing his final outing, he told me straight out how much he values the life of his men, then I go and look in his file. There's an anecdote in there all about how he had to make the choice between his lieutenant and his retirement fund aaand he just went ahead and threw her to her death.

So have you confronted him about the lies?

I dunno what the point is. He's so totally invested in this fiction he's invented about himself that anything I say based on 'facts' or 'his own life history' just bounces straight off him.

Maybe go along with it then. See if he traps himself in a corner.
