.072 - a hostile (not) takeover

[Much like when the Admiral makes an announcement, Kirk's voice permeates the entire Barge. Though unlike the Admiral, this voice is pretty easy to pin down. And it's glaringly obvious that it isn't the Admiral.]

Attention people of the Barge, this is Jim Kirk speaking. It's just two things so I'll be brief. The Admiral's not flying this thing right now and you people better start looking for your swimsuits.

[ooc: And this has started! By now Kirk has set their course for Risa. No going back now, suckers. He sealed the way behind him, just fyi]

[Then shifts to fury.]

You reckless, idiotic, lunatic human! I did not sign on to be flown by some amateur. Do you even know the first thing about transdimensional travel? The Blinovich Limitation Effect? Paradox disruptions? Get out of there this instant.

So you have experience equivalent to a day with a learner's permit. Lovely.

You have no way of knowing that. You have no idea what you're even dealing with you primitive, egotistical fool.

[Narvin is turning red, he's so furious. This is just the sort of thing that the CIA hunts down and imprisons people for.]

[Jesse has been a little torn, since the last two Barge takeovers have gone terribly for him... but if Narvin hates it, that pretty much automatically puts him on Kirk's side.]

Yo, Kirk, man, nice going. Hey, could you like-- make it so only level five gets flown into the sun?

[personal profile] timesbureaucrat 2012-06-27 06:00 am (UTC)(link)
And you, what, think I wouldn't notice the rest of the floor being evacuated?

If that's your idea of an assassination attempt, it's a pretty poor one. I've been the target of much better attempts than that.

Sorry. [Bit embarrassed there. Anger makes him put his foot in his mouth. But at least he said "human" instead of "ape." That's progress. A little.]

[Private]

I'm on my way to the TARDIS to see if I can't find a way to drag him out. And it's the safest place to be if Kirk's piloting goes horribly awry.

A second pair of hands would be very helpful. [Plus, he wants to make sure that Kay will be safe.]

He's got more experience piloting this ship than you do and the TARDIS will get the coordinates wrong. We're putting ourselves in more danger going after him in that than taking a manual way.

Hold back for now.
timesbureaucrat: (puppy face)

[personal profile] timesbureaucrat 2012-06-27 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
He has more experience with the ship controls, yes, but not time travel.

[But Kay is definitely right about the TARDIS having trouble locking on to the bridge coordinates.]

All right. I'll hold back. [In the TARDIS. Where it's safer.]

[Pause.]

Could you...? ...Wait in the TARDIS with me? Just until we've landed wherever it is he's taking us. I don't want us scattered across the multiverse because Kirk pushed the wrong button.

If it made such a thing possible, I find it hard to believe the Admiral wouldn't have fail-safes in place. Or perhaps it's even pretending to give him such access. Both options should be considered.

Perhaps, but I'd rather not take that chance. The Admiral's not invulnerable. There have been hostile take overs of the Barge before that the Admiral almost certainly did not plan. Last October was one. And some years ago one of my own people--a criminal--hijacked the Barge for quite some time. Both times resulted in quite a bit of death and misery.

It seems a little foolish to compare one of your kind to a human.

That there might may be death or misery, yes, but unlikely to think he'll do any permanent damage to the ship.
