From where she's curled up in bed, Shego winces and sets down the bottle of vodka she's rather unwisely taking shots from on top of her current pain medication.

"Just one?" Pause. "It's open."

If Kirk was a doctor, he'd kill you for being so stupid. Instead he's just going to slap you around a little bit. He lets himself into her room and surveys her condition for a few moments.

"What happened?"

She's silent for a moment while she arranges an answer.

"Oh-kay. So. The Barge was dead last week, no lights or power or anything, so that was fun for all the old-timey guys who hate electricity, I guess. Not so much for anybody else. Me and O'Brien and a bunch of nerds broke into the engine to try and fix it and we all burnt to death. I think. I don't think any of us remember all that well. That was...Friday." She pauses. "Tim was in a coma, so that sucked, but it seems like he's okay now so I don't know."

Another, longer pause.

"Oh! And I totally beat up Joker last week 'cuz he killed Prefect."

That... is a lot of information to get in about five seconds.

Kirk stares at her for almost a minute before he goes to take that bottle of vodka and put it far out of her reach. Because he wants her as sober as he can get her for this conversation.

"How's the death toll affecting you?"

She pulls a face when he takes her vodka away, but she doesn't care about the loss enough to try seriously pursuing it and just falls back onto the pillows instead.

"M'okay. It was worse at the weekend."

Kirk takes her lack of protest about taking the alcohol away as an invitation to sit on the edge of her bed, looking equal parts annoyed and concerned.

"I'm sure giving yourself a hangover is really going to help with that," he commented dryly. "Tell me more about what happened with the Joker."

Shego shrugged and threw an arm over her eyes so she didn't have to look at her Warden. "He blew up Prefect and Tyler. I didn't feel like letting the Wardens take him in quietly, y'know? So." She gave a sort of half-shrug, difficult in her position.

Kirk is torn. He really supports getting revenge for Prefect and Sam but he is not going to encourage any behavior like this. "What did you do to him?"

"I just threw him across a room and beat him unconscious, okay? Broke a few ribs. I didn't kill him or anything, I just wanted him to spend longer on recovery than Prefect was gonna spend on the death toll." She really needed to keep in mind that alcohol destroyed her brain-to-mouth filter.

"You can't just throw people across rooms and beat them unconscious, Shego," Kirk said with barely veiled irritation. "I take it you used your powers on him."

"Well duh. He had a knife, I wasn't gonna give him a fighting chance." She waved her free hand vaguely. "Go on. Go ahead and take my powers back off me. I don't care."

"I was thinking about reducing them to about ten percent of your full power but if you'd rather I just take them away completely, I can do that too," Kirk scowled at her slightly.

Since she couldn't see him from underneath her arm, the scowl was completely lost on her.

"Okay. Ten percent's good too."

Jim rolled his eyes slightly and decided to make a final decision on that front later. If she kept cooperating or he didn't find out she was lying about something.

"Can you maybe look at me while we're having a conversation?"

She shifted her forearm up from her eyes to her forehead and stared blearily at him.

"Congratulations, Jimmy. That's the closest you've ever gotten to sounding like my mom."

"Well thank you. That's maybe the first time you've ever mentioned her freely," Kirk bit back out at her.

"Is there a reason why you're drinking in your room alone instead of spending time with Tim?"

Shego didn't respond to the first comment because she wasn't the one all messed up with mommy issues and she didn't consider her (almost nonexistent) relationship with her mother to be even remotely relevant to why she was on the Barge.

"You've seen how the network's all screwed up, right? He's talking to his buddies from back home. Maybe had to go remind Sylar that he's a jerk, too. It's not like we're married."

"I still can't imagine you enjoy him waking up and talking to his friends over you." It was said quietly, in case it horribly offended her or whatever else went on in her head.

"I'm sorry that I wasn't here."

She gave him a look that would have had more irritation behind it if she wasn't drunk. "Why? You chose to go wherever it was you went, and it's not like anything happened that you could have changed in any way, so. It doesn't really make any difference that you weren't here."

"Yeah, it does. Because I'm sure that you spent a good portion of your time stewing over the fact that I wasn't there and probably wasn't coming back. And you have no way of saying what I could and couldn't have done."

Shego rolled her eyes. "Ego much? I was more busy worrying about starving to death than I was about you coming back. Heck, I was more worried about having clean water to shower with than I was about you coming back."

Jim reached out to put his hand on her shoulder lightly, giving her the chance to shrug it off if she wanted. "I'm still sorry that I left and left you to deal with all of it on your own." He paused for a moment. "Who brought you back?"

"I'm an adult, Jim. We're the same freaking age. I can deal with stuff by myself."

She didn't shrug his hand off, just squirmed out from under it and shifted over to the opposite edge of the bed like a cat who was particularly offended at being petted.

"Nobody. The death toll stopped working when the lights went out, people just stayed dead. When the power came back on, everybody who died got revived at the same time, I guess. Nobody had to ask to revive me."

"That's good," Kirk commented quietly, suddenly a little sick at the idea of Shego staying dead all weekend if no one else had thought to bring her back just because he wasn't around.

"I'm not insulting your ability to deal. I'm just saying I wish I'd been here to help."

"Jimmy, again, there is nothing you could've done to help. So cancel the pity party already." She gave him a sideways glance. "And gimme my vodka back. It's not even like I swiped it from the pub - I bought it in Salem, it's my property."
