[Bang bang bang. When you open the door, you will find Shego looking deeply unhappy and like she didn't really sleep last night. Bang bang bang.]

[Spontaneous banging is never good from her, so when he opens the door, it's either that he's in trouble or something bad happened. Going by her appearance... it was the latter. He steps back from the door to let her in, wondering if this is somehow connected to the flood or if it's something else.]

"What's wrong?"

It's... [She sits down on the end of his bed, fidgeting.] You said something about getting drunk?

"I did. But I'm guessing you aren't suddenly depressed by how long you've been here." [So pretty much, fess up about what's wrong.]

Frown.

"I kinda broke up with Tim. I think. I don't know."

"You what?" That definitely called for drinks which he went to get from his desk. "Why? What happened?"

"I got assigned to him in the flood. I asked if he'd read my file, he said he didn't get it, I asked if he'd read it if he had it, he asked why it mattered...kinda just kept going downhill from there."

Jim offered her a glass mostly full of scotch and then sat next to her. "Why does it really bother you?" Not having his life in a file or some kind of public record was foreign to him really. He was the Kelvin baby for years and then Starfleet slapped a dile on him when he signed up.

She halved the glass immediately. Screw going through this conversation sober.

"I...look, I'm not saying I've been a total saint. There's not a whole lot he's done or failed to do that I haven't. It's not just that, I...this whole thing ground to a halt back when he decided to get drunk and rant about doorways. I tried to ignore it, I thought I could get past it, but but...I shouldn't have let it go when it happened. He got wasted, talked about our sex life and implied I was a tramp because I couldn't be someone I was in a fucking flood. And I just took it."

She knew that swearing was a pretty noticeable stress indicator but didn't care. And in no way was her newfound irritation with this related to Miss Go's tendency to both take the bad with the good and forgive stuff she probably shouldn't have done.

Oh yeah, that whole mess. Kirk was maybe not the best person to give advice about how to healthily pursue a relationship with someone that didn't end in total disaster and perhaps the ruination of any friendship associated to that. But he could empathize about not wanting to give up things about herself.

"Well. I support you sticking up for yourself and I'm not going to tell you to be in a relationship with him or not. That's your call. You two need to figure that out. My offer to shoot him still stands though. And you can have all the booze and pity party you want."

"Don't shoot him." In response to the rest, she emptied the glass and held it out for another shot.

"It's my own fault for getting into it in the first place. He is a kid, he just....made it really easy to forget that. Maybe it ten years he'll realize that expecting the L-word from somebody you don't trust makes you a hypocritical dick."

"That really inspires me not to shoot him." Jim just handed her his own glass in favor of getting up right that moment to grab the bottle. "The whole family's abnormally idealistic. Which is weird, because of the bat and cape fetish."

"You think idealistic?" She laughed unpleasantly. "I dunno that it's really idealism when you want people to be better but assume the absolute worst of everyone just in case."

She stared at Jim's glass like it carried a risk of Kirk-cooties, then took a sip anyway.

They've had sex. The cooties factor wasn't really relevant. "It sounds like he assumed boy meets girl and falls in love and lives happily ever after happens every time and magically and all that shit."

Who knows what cooties he's picked up since then. It's been a while.

"Not so much." She paused for thought. "More like he could treat me like pretty much every other girlfriend he's had, where they think they're getting everything and they don't even see this entire other persona he's got going in the background."

"Well he was the virgin boy wonder before you two started dating. No judgment or anything but a level of naivete comes with that."

She wasn't going to ask how he knew that. "Like I'd ever been on a real date before, Kirk. Maybe the sex thing was new to him but he's had relationships. More than I have. He doesn't get a pass for inexperience there."

"I would argue that a high school romance is not a real relationship," Kirk answered, getting up finally to go get the bottle for them to share. "But you're right, he sounds like he's being a hypocrite."

"Thank you." And she didn't want to talk about that anymore. "Were you affected? Reassigned, whatever?"

"Nope. I spent the whole thing down in zero with Prefect and his Inmate trying to help."

"Sounds like a laugh and a half." She paused. "Was Prefect okay?"

"Yes and no. He was more concerned about Barron than himself after the flood." Mirrorverse would always just be 'the flood' no matter how many other floods they had since then. "I think they'll be okay."

"Good. I need to talk to him, I..." Could still feel her other self's imprint in her mind, and she had hated Prefect with an unusual passion. Not for what he was so much as what he had been, what he'd betrayed. "...I haven't for a while." Not that she'd been much of a social animal with anyone else lately. She sipped her drink.

"I think he'd like that. In his own special Prefect way."

"Yeah." She finished his drink - noting unhappily that two generous shots no longer had the lobotomising effect they would have done two years ago - and leaned back, staring at the ceiling. Sorry, Kirk, she's spacing out a bit.
