If you take out all of the trips home, mostly from me but you also went home too so the kettle is calling the pot black in that instance, this is our two year anniversary of being Warden and Inmate, Shego.

We should celebrate. Or get horridly drunk so we forget that it's been twenty four months and you're still here. Or something.

She wasn't going to ask how he knew that. "Like I'd ever been on a real date before, Kirk. Maybe the sex thing was new to him but he's had relationships. More than I have. He doesn't get a pass for inexperience there."

"I would argue that a high school romance is not a real relationship," Kirk answered, getting up finally to go get the bottle for them to share. "But you're right, he sounds like he's being a hypocrite."

"Thank you." And she didn't want to talk about that anymore. "Were you affected? Reassigned, whatever?"

"Nope. I spent the whole thing down in zero with Prefect and his Inmate trying to help."

"Sounds like a laugh and a half." She paused. "Was Prefect okay?"

"Yes and no. He was more concerned about Barron than himself after the flood." Mirrorverse would always just be 'the flood' no matter how many other floods they had since then. "I think they'll be okay."

"Good. I need to talk to him, I..." Could still feel her other self's imprint in her mind, and she had hated Prefect with an unusual passion. Not for what he was so much as what he had been, what he'd betrayed. "...I haven't for a while." Not that she'd been much of a social animal with anyone else lately. She sipped her drink.

"I think he'd like that. In his own special Prefect way."

"Yeah." She finished his drink - noting unhappily that two generous shots no longer had the lobotomising effect they would have done two years ago - and leaned back, staring at the ceiling. Sorry, Kirk, she's spacing out a bit.

Jim thought about telling her that he'd had some company over earlier and hadn't gotten around to changing the sheets yet. But in the end, decided against that.

"So. Two years."

"Two years. Sorry I didn't get you anything," she drawled.

"I've never complained about a drunk girl in my bed before." He was just trying to be funny and get her mind off the crap with Tim. It probably wasn't the best way to do that.

"Real classy, Kirk. And I'm not even drunk," which was still registering as a surprise. She slid back a little further, still resting on her hands, and her fingertips encountered something that bedsheets weren't meant to feel like. Not damp exactly, but kind of -

"Oh, ew!" She hauled herself up, snatching her hand away like it was burnt. "You gross - don't you change your sheets?"

Jim couldn't help but laugh at that, because he was just gross like that and it was kind of funny because it didn't happen to him. "I wasn't expecting you to Barge in here. Next time I'll clean up immediately."

She got up and wiped her - in all likelihood, completely clean - hand on his sleeve before moving to sit on his desk instead. "Yeah, you do that. I thought you'd given up on sleeping with nutjobs." 'Nutjobs' here acting as an acceptable synonym for 'anyone on the Barge'.

"I found someone sane," Jim answered, kind of staying exactly where he was on the bed. "It happens once in a blue moon."

"That's...the fact that it happened is already more than I ever need to know."

"Probably why I didn't offer you the information until you asked."

"I so did not ask! This information was forced on me by the fact you refuse to do laundry!" Maybe that wasn't entirely rational. She scowled at him and held out her glass.

He gave her the booze because he felt bad and because he promised her some. "You're the one who sprawled all over my bed."

"I sat. There was no sprawling. Anyway, you were saying like two minutes ago how much you liked that."

"I can change the sheets if you want to come back."

"Hey, don't go to any trouble on my account."

She glared into her glass for a while.

"I told him we should go on a 'break'. I'm pretty sure that's chick talk for delaying the inevitable."

Jim winced in sympathy for Tim. He'd never been put on a break before but he imagined that he would hate it. "You're just keeping his hopes up with that."

"Yeah, I know. But if I'd just dumped him straight out then he'd never speak to me again."
