Imagine my everlasting shame when it was brought to my attention that you haven't had your physical yet. A man of your age and experience should know that they are vital to a man's health.

You need to report to the Infirmary. Right now. Or else I'm going to be forced to take drastic measures.

So what's McCoy got you doing?

[ooc: Kirkling found the medical files. So he snooped. And is using that to win his bet with Bones FOREVER.]

[Jim froze at that those words, eyeing Bones suspiciously.]

"Yeeeah?"

[Bones just gave him an exasperated look back for his suspicious one.] I'm not going to say I expect you to be monogamous but I'm not going to pretend I like it either. [He answered after a pause, frowning as he stood.] You smelled like her for Christ's sake.

[Some self preservation instinct kept Jim from asking which girl he smelled like. But it didn't stop him from smelling himself right then and there to make sure that he didn't smell like anyone else. He didn't think he did but it didn't hurt to make sure.]

"I'm sorry?" [He offered because that seemed easiest.]

[McCoy rolled his eyes at the answer and action, crossing his arms. He expected it, really, but he was old fashioned. That was one thing Jocelyn could never accuse him of and never tried to, being unfaithful.] Sorry. You're impossible. I don't want an apology damnit, I want- [He paused, as if trying to figure it out. He gave up after a moment, stepping forward, closer, and dropping his arms.] I'm not in this for kicks Jim. I'm won't ask you to change your ways right out of the blue but I'm not going to put up with you coming back here and reeking of sex, you understand me?

"Yeah. Showers are good. Got it," [Jim said quietly, biting down on the inside of his cheek.] "I'm not.. in it for kicks, either. For the record."

[McCoy stared at him a long moment before asking levelly.] If I asked you to stop would you?

[Kirk didn't answer right away, too busy weighing everything in his head. Was it worth it to push Bones's buttons about this? Probably not. And sleeping with one person was an entirely foreign concept. That implied there was a real relationship going on or something.]

"I don't care about them," [he said finally, which was neither a yes or a no.] "And it's not a reflection on you if I sleep with someone else. They're just... kinda there, you know? A hand's a hand and a mouth is a mouth but you're my Bones."

[McCoy sighed, some of the tension leaving his shoulders but in a nearly resigned way, like fighting a losing battle. He knew that damnit, he had been in Kirk's head and knew he mattered to the young man, which should have been enough for him. And it was, to some extent.]

You really don't get it do you Jim? [He asked, tone bitterly amused as he shook his head.]

"Am I offending your delicate Southern sensibilities?"

Yeah Jim, because where I come from when people are more than just fuck buddies they don't like to share. [McCoy snapped.]

"So you're jealous?" [Kirk raised his eyebrows at him.] "Can I have friends? Can I talk to other people or should I run it past you first?"

Don't pretend you don't know what I mean. [He glares right back.] Hell, maybe you don't, lords knows I can never tell.

"Do you trust me at all? Because it feels like to me like you think I'm going to find someone I like better so you have to stake your claim on me. I'm not a piece of land, Bones. Or a horse."

Jesus Jim, you really don't understand. [He pinches the bridge of his nose before dropping his hand.] A relationship isn't about staking claims but it isn't about fucking and running around like that's all there is to it. You're telling me if I went off and had some damned fling it wouldn't bother you in the slightest?

[Well... no. Maybe. A little bit. But only because he knows that when Bones has sex, it's because it means something to him and it's important and all that stuff. So if he did sleep with someone else, it'd mean that he didn't care about Jim anymore.

Obviously.]

"I'm trying. I'm not..." [He gestures between them fruitlessly, trying to say that he's not good at relationships without actually having to admit it.]

"I'll stop."

[McCoy's brow rose, arms crossing.] You'll stop what? Sleeping around? [He asked, slight disbelief in his tone.]

[He gets a glare for that tone.]

"Yeah. I'm all yours."

[McCoy regarded him a moment, stepping forward with a sigh as he placed his hand at the back of Kirk's neck.] I'm not an idiot Jim, I know you well enough to know forcing you into anything will only end in a brand of idiocy that would make Spock cry. Do what you want. [He kept his gaze steady into Jim's ridiculously blue eyes.] Work it out for yourself. I can wait. [He just needed to know Kirk was serious too.]

[Jim isn't sure if he should point out that this whole conversation already makes him feel like an idiot or that he's got some kind of weird knee-jerk reaction that makes him want to do whatever Bones asks of him because then he'll be happy and happy people don't leave or that he's pretty sure he deserves to be kicked to curb for that crap he pulled.

But he really doesn't want to talk about any of that.

So he just leaps without looking instead.]

"I'm serious, Bones. It's all or nothing, right?"

It's not as simple as an ultimatum. [McCoy says incredulously, brow quirked.] And this isn't a some dare either Jim.

[It's stubborn pride working for Bones's favor right now. And he should be thankful that Kirk will do just about anything to prove to doubters that he can do it. So really, he should be happy because he's getting his way.]

"I know, it's about maturing and being a better person."

[Bones really tries not to look incredulous. The last time Kirk took something as a dare he cheated and nearly ended up kicked out of Starfleet. He obsessed over it and that's really not what McCoy wants but at this point all he could do was dare him not to take it as a dare. The stubborn idiot.]

Which, if you notice our surroundings, doesn't happen over night. [McCoy sighs, letting his hand slide to Kirk's shoulder and quirking his brow, tone lighter.] You're a stubborn son of a bitch, you know that?

[Jim gave him a quirked smile for a few moment that lacked any humor.]

"That's part of my charm." [He sighs.] "You don't get to tell me that you hate that I sleep around but you don't expect me to even want to be monogamous and still expect me to take that lying down."

Jim, have you ever been in a relationship before? And screwing around with Gaila doesn't count.

[Jim didn't answer that. Just... gave Bones a look instead and let that be his answer.]

It doesn't matter cause my family doesn't love me that much anyway
