Imagine my everlasting shame when it was brought to my attention that you haven't had your physical yet. A man of your age and experience should know that they are vital to a man's health.

You need to report to the Infirmary. Right now. Or else I'm going to be forced to take drastic measures.

Jim pulled on his jacket as he headed out of his quarters. Any physical with Bones was a pain in the ass, but he had been putting this one off especially because this younger Bones was just as cantankerous and not his cantankerous Bones. God only knew what would come of that.

But he wasn't going to let his younger self get the better of him, and by the time he got to the infirmary, his chest was puffed out about as much as his ego was.

"Bones..."

"Sorry, Bones has the week off," Kirk said with a proud little smirk, crossing his arms over his chest. He figured that if he could get the older Kirk to get his physical done and it hadn't taken as much work to rope Peter into helping him than he thought.

"Peter here's going to do it."

"I promise I'll be gentle about it," Peter added. He'd heard enough complaining from McCoy to get an idea of what to expect from the two Kirks in the same room.

The admiral raised his eyebrows. He couldn't back out now. That would only give the Captain more fuel for the ever growing fire. And there was his own pride...

"I'm not sure your presence is necessary, Captain."

Laughing so hard!

What have I told you about using your powers for evil?

"Didn't you hear? I'm the head of the Infirmary this week. I need to make sure that you don't talk your way out of this. And like, record what happens. For proof."

What evil?

He needs a physical.

And I'm sure you're doing all this out of the goodness of your heart.

Getting a stubborn old man like the Admiral counts as doing your job better than you, right?

Threatening the man for kicks doesn't count towards being a fine example of a doctor Jim. Neither is informing a potential conquest they need a 'physical,' which better not have happened in my Sick Bay so help you God.

I didn't threaten him for kicks. Peter gave him the physical.

How is he? I'm concerned about the stress the Barge and Spock's death must be having on him.

For nothing, he might add. He got the Admiral to consent to a physical. Bones should be patting him on the back, not telling him that they need to talk.

Nothing good ever came from those words.

But he didn't try to put it off because he was James T. Kirk damnit. He wasn't afraid of anything. Not even the doctor in his room who liked to stick him with needles.]

"Boooones?"

[McCoy still wasn't sure if he was enjoying the break or already antsy, maybe a healthy mixture of the two. He could tell from the twitch of his fingers it was going to end in unrest, boredom and damn, how did an active guy like Jim handle it? He considered what he could do to possibly get Jim something to do all day rather than work himself to the ground in the gym (McCoy's limbs were already protesting the schedule he had set up).

When Jim came in he looked up from his seat on the bed, brow quirking.] How was work darlin'? [He asked with a mocking drawl.]

"It was lovely." [Which means there hasn't been many terribly injuries, nothing that Peter and Martha can't handle and he actually likes talking to Peter. So that's pretty nice.

And he has complete access to the medical files on board, which he really likes.]
