.001 - And it begins

Captain's Log
Stardate 2258.63 62... fuck it. I've always hated dates. It's 2258 last I checked. That's all I need.

Jim Kirk here. I appear to have been relocated to a primitive space vessel. Which I thought, Admiral, when you said you needed me on a different ship for a while, that it would be, I don't know... shiny. New. With private bathrooms for everyone.

I feel like a drink. Anyone care to join me?

I thought there might be.

It's just that you're...not quite what I've come to expect from the textbooks on you at Starfleet Academy.

I'm Captain Kathryn Janeway, by the way. My last posting was aboard the USS Voyager, a little over one hundred years in your future.

...I just know the Department of Temporal Investigations will have my head after this...

There's textbooks on me?

Don't worry about it. Spock already cheated and ruined everything for me anyway. Not like it matters.

Do captains still get together for drinks in the future, Kathryn? You mind if I call you that?

[identity profile] fear-conquered.livejournal.com 2009-05-13 04:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Quite a few textbooks, in fact.

Kathryn is fine. I'm sure you don't mind if I call you Jim, do you? And having drinks with you would be...quite an experience.

I think I love the future.

You can call me whatever you want and that's a promise.

Then let's experience it then. You can tell me about the future I'm missing out on.

Twenty-one hundred hours? I understand there's a pub of some kind, but I'm not sure exactly where it's located; the mess hall might be the safer bet.

[identity profile] captain-jtkirk.livejournal.com 2009-05-13 05:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Where's your sense of adventure, captain? You'll lead a starship across the galaxy but you won't join me in finding one little pub?

[identity profile] fear-conquered.livejournal.com 2009-05-13 05:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Sometimes I think I left my sense of adventure back in the Delta Quadrant.

However, I've never been one to turn down a good challenge.

[identity profile] captain-jtkirk.livejournal.com 2009-05-13 05:22 pm (UTC)(link)
That's a pity. I always thought the Gamma Quadrant was better at depriving people of their souls.

Where's your quarters? I'll come get you and we can find this elusive pub together.

Level 2, room 001.

Believe you me, when you've faced Hirogen, Kazon, and the Borg - not to mention hundreds of first contacts - when your only objective is to reach Earth, it wears you down.

But I'm sure you've got a few first contact stories of your own. First round's on me.

[identity profile] captain-jtkirk.livejournal.com 2009-05-13 05:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I've got some stories, yeah.

I'll pick you up at twenty-one hundred hours, captain.
