[Kirk is pretty much bouncing around his room at this point. He can't technically see the hypos but he's sure that they can see him. Maybe he is crazy and more paranoid than he cared to admit to being. He'll blame that on Bones too.]

[Bones is fairly strung out looking himself. He could swear the hull was cracking, had been, though now the sounds and feeling had passed. He was almost glad for Jim's idiocy to distract him.]

[He raps loudly on the door.] Here 'captain.' [Yes, that's sarcasm and plenty of it.]

[Jim considers finding one of the damn needles and sticking Bones with it, if only because it'll make him believe him. The personal pleasure of finally being the one to do the stabbing is just a bonus. But he doesn't do that and goes to answer the door, fixing his best friend with a dirty look after he opens the door.]

"I thought doctors were above pranks."

And I thought you weren't completely off your rocker. [Bones pushes his way in, looking around at... nothing. He looks back to Kirk, brow raised and arms crossed.] Apparently I was wrong. [Though now that he was in here he couldn't hear one hint of the ship cracking apart. He couldn't have been just hearing things.]

"I'm not! They're here, I can--" [Kirk stops and surveys the room for a few moments. He doesn't have the feeling that his room is a treasure trove of hypos anymore and he can't say for sure that they're there anymore but they were. He's not crazy.] "Alright, I can't anymore. But they were here. I didn't just make it up."

Sure you didn't - didn't hit your head did you? [Now he's walking over and looking Kirk in the eyes with scrutiny.] Look straight and follow my finger. [He lifted his index finger and moved it slowly from side to side.]

"Ship still falling apart?" [Jim retorts, following McCoy's finger with his eyes because he knows it's easier to just go with it then fight it and get stabbed extra hard.] "If I'm crazy, then you're crazy."

I didn't say a bunch of needles were watching me. [He shoots back. There was a better chance of this damnable ship cracking in half- no, he wasn't going to dwell on it. He reluctantly puts his hand down.] Some sort of mass hallucination? I've never seen something like this before Jim.

[He digests that for about half a second before it hits him.]

"It's the flood."

[Kirk actually kind of wants to hit his head against the wall now because he should've realized that sooner. He's a fucking genius tactician. He should be able to put these things together faster. He's blaming Bones and his psychotic use of needles for that one too.]

"Last time this happened, I had glasses and loved chess. Which I actually kind of prefer to thinking I'm going to be stabbed if I go try to sleep in my bed."

[Kirk gets himself a quizzical look for that.] Flood?

[He listens to the explanation before shaking his head, waving a hand to stop him.] You're telling me this sort of thing happens often? And it once turned you into... what, Spock Jr?

"I don't know about often. Maybe three times in the two months I've been here?" [Kirk shrugs. He lied before. He much prefers this to his chess loving, glasses wearing, violence and sex hating alter ego. He doesn't feel brainwashed right now. Maybe slightly paranoid but he can live with that.] "First time it happened, I turned into my five year old self. I forgot what a delight I used to be."

[He smiles.] "Did you think I was just being poetic when I said it was magical?"

I thought you were being dramatic. [McCoy grumbles back. So the ship wasn't going to crack in two and Kirk wasn't losing his mind. Halle-fucking-lugah.]

[He takes a seat on Kirk's bed, arms crossed and brow raised at the young captain.] So when's this little 'magical' adventure going to be over?

"Let me just consult my calender." [Jim makes a show of patting himself down, looking for a padd that isn't on his body and even if it was, wouldn't have that kind of information on it.] "Oh right. I must have left that in my other pants. But feel free to use my bed as long as you need."

So we don't even have any idea how long this will last? [That's an irate tone there.] Great, thrown out of our god damned rooms by this "magical" ship.

[He takes a moment before sighing.] You know I never had to deal with all this crazy shit before I met you, I mentioned that right? [He looks over, brow raising.] Do you still feel like there are needles around at all?

"And I haven't had anybody nag me as much as you since... no wait, you're the only one." [Kirk matches the irate tone with one of his own and even one his eyebrows pops up to join the party.]

"But no, no needles. They went away when you showed up."

You're welcome. [The eyebrow raising here would make Spock proud.]

[He pauses a moment before sighing.] Fine, I'll ask. Can I camp here or should I go find that damned inmate of mine and stick with him instead?

"Do you really even have to ask that?"

[Jim's eyebrow shifts more towards disbelieving, because after their Academy days with all of his drunken exploits, half of which left him bleeding and going to Bones to help him and then passing out there, wasn't the answer to that question obvious?]

"I'm actually insulted you would think of going to stay with someone else."

I'm polite. [Or still on edge about the damned ship cracking- they aren't flying. Great, they'd all just drown.]

Just like old times- only you were the one usually crashing my room. [And no one was drunk or bleeding. It was almost ridiculous he looked back on that time fondly- he was too old to be some idiot college kid.]

"I don't know why you call them 'old'. It was like six months ago." [And wow does that put things into perspective for a moment. It's something of a novelty for him, to actually do something with his life instead of spending it floating around the Midwest.]

"Which is practically nothing, if you think about it."
