Alright, fine, Bones. I get it. I'm dirty and diseased and I'm never going to make it to the ripe old age of thirty.

Now get these damn things out of my room.

Smart ass. [McCoy glanced over at the flick, irritable but mostly appeased.] You're surprised? I half expect you to run back to your one true love when the whim takes you. I can't believe you lasted here for two whole months.

So what, you'll get a few days to romp around wherever the haul us to?

"You know? Sometimes I can't believe that I've made it this long either. Guess this place really is magical, huh?"

[Jim shrugs a little bit.]

"You miss the sunshine and ground beneath your feet and horses and whatever else you have in the south. I know you do. You'd love to get off this thing for a little while too."

Honoring your commitments- watch out Jim, you may be growing up.

[A pause at that then a resigned sigh.] Of course I do. 'Guess everyone gets sick of space and [a vague gesture] water, no matter how space happy they seem.

[Kirk makes a face.] "Yeah. It makes me uncomfortable just thinking about it. I need to start making fart jokes."

[He inspects his hand for a few moments before pointing at McCoy sharply.] "I love space. This isn't space. This is some other weird crap."

[He rolls his eyes.] Spare me, you don't have to prove your immaturity to me Jim.

[And he raises his brow at that pointing.] Space is weird crap. But you're right, I don't know what this is but it isn't anything Starfleet tried to prepare us for.

"I never said I'd make the jokes to i>you, grumpy pants."

[Kirk decides to mess up Bones' perfectly shaped hair, smirking as he does it.] "Much better. Now when you rant and rave, it'll go better with your look."

Oh look, you can be compassionate then.

[Bones tries to bat his hand away, grumbling at the action.] It's not 'ranting and raving' damnit, it's perfectly legitimate concerns any sane person would have- sane being the key word there farm boy. [he announces, tugging a hand through his hair in some poor attempt at fixing the damage.]

"Ouch. Using my childhood against me. You gonna make a crack about my dad next?" [Kirk sticks his tongue out at Bones and messes up his hair again, something he hadn't been planning on before it was necessary now since Iowa was brought into the conversation.]

More your demeanor. [Bones rolls his eyes, trying to push the hand away again as it reeked further damage.] Don't be so touchy- what, you want a different nickname pumpkin?

"Not if you call your kid, pumpkin, no. Give me my own nickname or don't call me anything at all." [Satisfied, he takes his hand back and admires his handiwork for a few moments.] "It's what I did for you."

[Bones couldn't help a snort of laughter at that, shaking his head.] Yeah well Jo hates that nickname too. [He looks over.] 'Jim' isn't good enough anymore huh? How about Tiberius? JT? [He asks sarcastically though amused.]

"Oh god, don't remind me." [Jim flops back on the bed dramatically, even throwing an arm over his eyes.] "What was my mother thinking? She wanted that to be my first name, you know. It was a like a sign." [He'd make a joke here about how she probably hated him except that his relationship with his mother is so strained that it's not funny.]

Woe is you. [He smirks as he tries to fix his damned hair, thank you very much Jim.] I don't know, it's flashy and over the top- kind of fitting.

"What are you-- complimenting my middle name now?" [Jim gives him a weird look for that one. There's no way to salvage Tiberius. It sucks. He would've ended up a nerdy little kid who got the shit kicked out of him if that had been his first name.] "It's old and dated and it doesn't even mean anything cool. And damn Starfleet for using it at every turn, like there's a hundred James Kirks running around and they have to be sure it's me. There isn't and if there was, I'm the only one that matters."

Please, there isn't enough room in the world for the egos of two James Kirks. [He shakes his head.] Yeah yeah, your point is made. That name is basically putting a kick me sign permanently on your back. Your granddad must have had a hell of a time with. [he raises his brow.] Your family have some fascination with old roman generals?

[Kirk throws his hands up.] "I have no idea. That implies having a conversation with them." [Which is hard to do when his dad is dead, his grandparents are dead, he never speaks to his mom anymore and he has no idea where his brother is.]

"Why aren't we making fun of your name? Leonard?"

[Bones gives him a scowl for that.] It's a fine enough name James. It's the nicknames. [he rolls his eyes. Anyone who dared call him 'Lenny' were on the painful end of a hypospray if he could help it.]

"What's wrong with Leo again?" [Kirk smirks innocently.] "Whatever, I'm hungry. You wanna come get something to eat with me or do you wanna hang around here?"
