I'm back.

The Barge is still standing, it seems like. That's... nice.

So. How's everyone been? Still in one piece? Shego? Anyone new? Hello. I'm Captain James Kirk. I was here... a while ago.

[ooc; If you know Kirk reeeeeeeally really well, you might notice that he sounds kind of wheezy. It's not Enterprise if Kirk doesn't get injured at some point. And you really don't need both of your lungs, if you think about it. He's been gone for 4 months on his end so he really has no idea how long it's been here.]

[He'll believe him!] It's good to have you back, Captain.

[Really, it's just a scratch :c] Thank you. Anything besides, I assume your death happen while I was gone?

It did. [And then he proceeds to avoid talking about it, besides the whole infirmary thing because the infirmary is boring.]

...Could you come by and play a game of chess with me?

Yeah, I could do that. I'll tell you about mine if you tell me about yours.

Mine is dull. It wasn't even a dire situation. It's practically an embarrassment to a survivalist. I'll try to avoid it in the future.

[Kind of sort of in the way he won't get poisoned again if he can help it.]

Did you enjoy your time away from the ship?

I did. I missed her more than I realized. [And the people wah :c He's slowly making his way down to the Infirmary with the chess board by this point.]

I miss the Andromeda. [Though the Andromeda might not miss him now that he's corrected the timeline.

He guesses hearing about the other ship might make him feel a little less lonely for her.]

[It's maybe another ten, fifteen minutes before Kirk wanders in there. He's a little stiff as he pulls up a chair and sets the chess board on the edge of Rhade's bed.]

"Seriously, you have to tell me what happened."

"I've died twice since you've been gone. I was returned home for a year and lived through an alternate reality. To preserve a more successful timeline, I had to die there."

[He sits up in bed.]

"The other is an accident. I'm not concerned about it."

"Twice." [The way Kirk says it, he's less than impressed. Even if saving the world and stuff was actually a good thing.] "That's not exactly reassuring."

"I didn't have much of a choice." [Being kicked out of the universe and utterly rejected by his girlfriend has been bad for his psyche.] "What did you do while you were gone?"

"You know. Some of this. And that. Got in a knife fight, more or less. Saved a planet from an all consuming civil war. The usual."

"I don't know many men that would place knife fight on the same level of saving a planet from civil war." [He reaches to take one of the black pieces, carefully because of his hands.] "Did you make any friends?"

[Yeah, the robot means those kinds of friends.]

[Sexy friends? Do you know how hard it is to make sexy friends on a hospital bed--actually it's not that hard. But still no :c]

"Not any of the fun kind. Just the kind that stab you or I should've been friends with before."

[It helps that your doctor is hot, Jim.]

"I suppose I've come to expect that of people. Even the fun ones tend to be dangerous." [He's not come to. He's always felt this way.] "Where were you stabbed?"

"Like on my body or the planet it happened on?"

"Part of your body. I'm not sure how many of our planets would have parallels."

"To the chest. That would be how I nearly did away with my lung."

[He looks at his chest, but doesn't say much considering that it's pointless with him in the position that he's in.] And your medical officer saw to you sufficiently before you returned? [He needs to be sure.]

"The incident happened over two months ago."

"Did you stop the civil war with the hole in your lung?"

"I wish. I get my ass handed to me enough, I'm starting to think I should be rewarded with world peace every time it happens." [He shrugs a little bit.] "It's all a little blurry. To be honest."

[He pauses as he shifts to better reach the board, grunting as he does so.] "What is your deal with the Admiral?"

[Jim shrugs again, waiting a moment to make his move before he answers.] "Not sure. It doesn't really matter. I'm not here because we have a deal. I'm here for Shego."

"My warden said the same. But I didn't want him to be." [He picks up another piece to idly move.] "And you'll return when you're done?"
