Okay Barge, let's play a game.

"Not super long but there's been like five people in two days. So. I'm never sleeping again."

"I've tried that, it usually doesn't go well."

"I've had a gun pulled on me and Shego left a bruise the size of a dinner plate on my ribs. Not sleeping is a better idea."

"I don't get this flood. Or, I guess I do, but what the hell's the point?"

"Is there a point to any of the floods?" [Kirk finally got the chess board set up and gestured at Dick to go ahead and take the white side.] "I think he's bored."

"I have no idea." [Anddd he is just making his first move. And brooding.]

[Kirk can smell the brooding on you. Since he invented the concept and all. He made his move in silence before he had to say something.] "It really is going to be okay. Floods are really terrible sometimes, but life goes on."

[Dick rubbed his forehead, feeling the stress headache developing.] "I know. I just wish I could do something about it."

[But he still makes his next move, and ten adds, dryly,] "I guess at least I'm not affected."

"I'd say that being here is doing a lot." [Bedside vigils were always touching, that sort of thing.] "Poor Tim though. That's worse than mine."

"Considering the way things have been working out for him this flood outside of getting punched in the face whenever he opens a door? If I had been affected, I'd probably be trying to kill him or something ridiculous like that."

"He'd probably deserve it." [It was a joke. Laugh, damnit.]

[That does, actually, get a laugh out of him.] "Payback for all those times he's tried to kill me."

"There's a story if I ever heard one. Or several. How many times exactly has he tried to kill you?"

"None, actually. I mean, we've fought before, but Jason's the stabby, killy member of the family. Not that he's ever tried that on me, but I'm from before everyone else in the timeline, so... I have no idea if he tries it in the future or not."

"I crown you guys with the issues crown." [Jim commented wryly as he stole one of Dick's pieces.] "Which the Kirks have had for years. So congratulations."

[And he is stealing one right back.] "So, it's not just a my universe thing where everyone's home lives are pretty much exactly the opposite of normal?"

"We can try to one up each other but that might just end up really depressing."

"Well, you ever got questions, ask. Since you know the big secret, there's not exactly a lot left to hide or lie about."

"Maybe just like the number and names of people you consider siblings."

"It's kind of more complicated then that."

"Do you live in a soap opera?"

"A comic book, apparently."

"I'm too curious. You might as well tell me."

"Bruce adopted Jason after he basically fired and kicked me out of the house - it was more of a you can't fire me I quit, well fine, don't come back, we're very mature, I know - and we were never that close. I didn't really see that much of him, I was busy with my team and they were busy in Gotham. He was a good kid though. He was murdered when he was sixteen. Tim came into the picture because he figured out our identities and wanted me to help stop Bruce from going off the deep end after what happened to Jason, and I don't know, maybe it was just because I was around more or maybe Tim and I just get along better, but he's been my kid brother basically since he put on the Robin costume."

[And he is taking this time to pause and make another move.] "About a year before I came here, Jason came back from the dead, but he's... different. He's tried to kill Bruce at least once, and I know he's beaten the shit out of Tim before, and I'm pretty sure he's done it more then once by Tim's timepoint, so I don't really know what to think of him. I mean, I haven't totally disowned him, but he's not the same kid, and he's taken vigilantism back to the shoot the criminals and everyone's at fault days. So, it's awkward. He's not really my brother like Tim is, but he's still more or less family. And I've basically adopted Steph since coming here, since we never really got time to hang out back home but here I've gotten to know her better, and there's another girl - Cass - who's basically family, but she's never been here, to the best of my knowledge."

[Kirk still thought that Bruce Wayne had a weird habit of collecting children. And getting them into bad situations by the sounds of it. And coming back from the dead, that was just ridiculous.] "I haven't heard of her, if that helps."

[He made one of those random and illogical seeming moves that he was really good at.]

"No long lost uncles or evil cousins, I hope?"
