So are you saying that the Admiral misplacing your file and then by pure chance, you being reassigned to me is more probable than someone actually interfering?
Since I didn't ask for it, and no one else not involved in this pairing triangle should have reason to care that much, there's not a lot of people left to do the asking.
I'm thinking one of three things happened. The Admiral decided we were too good together and had to reassign us but I've been back for a month and another sorting has happened in that time. You antagonized your last Warden so much that he was happy to hand you off to someone else but again, why wait so long? Or someone asked for it which also doesn't make much sense, I admit given other conversations we've had.
That's fascinating. Try not to get too focused on this total mystery, you've got other stuff like breathing and walking to do and your mind can only manage so many things at a time.
[Which finds Shego in the dining hall twenty minutes later with a cup of coffee and an expression on her face that suggests that just because she's accepted the inevitable she doesn't really have to like it.]
Well, you should be happy, Shego. Kirk is clearly the coolest Warden ever. Space captain trumps all.
He grabs his own cup of coffee and sits down across from her, trying not to smirk at her. It's not really working out well. But he's always kinda smug around her.
"Maybe later." She sips her drink. "So, we have coffee, I guess now it's time to catch up. I've been in space jail for the last three months. Your turn."
"And I was on a space ship for the last fifteen," Kirk answered, smiling a little into his coffee. "But that's not really what I meant. Did you make any progress with the other guy?"
"Pass Harper tools and be an extra pair of hands sometimes," she said blandly. "I don't know about like, but he's tolerable and I don't have to deal with anybody else, which makes it easily my favourite job here so far."
"So long as you like it, I don't have a problem with it." He made a mental note to talk to Harper though, to get updates on her and how she was doing down there every once in a while.
"Learning anything? From what I rememeber, this thing has an amazing set up."
She gave a lazy shrug and sipped her coffee. What she'd actually been doing was every so often ask 'what does that do?' type questions, ostensibly out of boredom, only to make very precise mental notes of the answers and write them down later on in the hope that maybe someday they might be useful. Couldn't hurt.
"God no. I am more than prepared to leave the nerd stuff to the nerds."

"Banner? No. Kind of a spineless nerd. I didn't talk to him all that often."

"He didn't part any wisdom on you at all?"

Kirk nodded into his coffee. "Didn't Banner give you back some of your ability?"

She leaned back when he asked the question, frowning minutely. "Some. I asked nicely. Oh, and I got a new job. Engine room."
