Well, you should be happy, Shego. Kirk is clearly the coolest Warden ever. Space captain trumps all.
He grabs his own cup of coffee and sits down across from her, trying not to smirk at her. It's not really working out well. But he's always kinda smug around her.
"Maybe later." She sips her drink. "So, we have coffee, I guess now it's time to catch up. I've been in space jail for the last three months. Your turn."
"And I was on a space ship for the last fifteen," Kirk answered, smiling a little into his coffee. "But that's not really what I meant. Did you make any progress with the other guy?"
"Pass Harper tools and be an extra pair of hands sometimes," she said blandly. "I don't know about like, but he's tolerable and I don't have to deal with anybody else, which makes it easily my favourite job here so far."
"So long as you like it, I don't have a problem with it." He made a mental note to talk to Harper though, to get updates on her and how she was doing down there every once in a while.
"Learning anything? From what I rememeber, this thing has an amazing set up."
She gave a lazy shrug and sipped her coffee. What she'd actually been doing was every so often ask 'what does that do?' type questions, ostensibly out of boredom, only to make very precise mental notes of the answers and write them down later on in the hope that maybe someday they might be useful. Couldn't hurt.
"God no. I am more than prepared to leave the nerd stuff to the nerds."
Jim snorted softly. "Anything else you think I should know? And by that I mean my standard is as low as, you stubbed your toe last month and chipped the nail polish."
She folded her arms and leaned forward. "Okay. Rule number two, don't talk about me to anybody I socialize with unless it's a matter of life or death."
"Deal," Jim nodded slightly. "Rule number three, be honest with me. You have a right to your privacy and I'll respect that, but if it's something I need to know about, especially anything important, or even if it's just a really bad day and you want to rant til you turn blue, then I want to hear about it."
Well. She didn't intend on keeping to that rule for a second, but since he'd worded it kind of vaguely she could be generous with the working definition of her right to privacy and what exactly he would 'need' to know about.
"Deal. Rule number four, I want one night a week of above-deck access. I don't care if you wanna make me earn it somehow, but there it is."
"Above deck is kind of broad. So is "one night". Do you want the whole night or just the evening? Where do you want to go? Do you want to bring anyone with you?"
"Actually, it is. This isn't a pleasure cruise and the above deck areas are a privilege for the Wardens. So yeah, you are going to have to earn it and given what you've told me today, you aren't going to earn it for a while. But I'll keep it in mind and if you do earn it, then you'll get it."
She knew she'd been pushing it with that one - and what had she done recently that was so terrible? - but never mind. She'd need Kirk to get into the pub as far as she knew, but otherwise....well, dating a Warden had its perks.
Spam - I do it because I love you

"Banner? No. Kind of a spineless nerd. I didn't talk to him all that often."

"He didn't part any wisdom on you at all?"

Kirk nodded into his coffee. "Didn't Banner give you back some of your ability?"

She leaned back when he asked the question, frowning minutely. "Some. I asked nicely. Oh, and I got a new job. Engine room."
