I think that phrase is meant for people who have a legitimate complaint. Five year olds, much like starship captains, shouldn't have many legitimate complaints when everything is going the way it's supposed to.

[Oh man, it would really make Kirk's day to find something of a strange man's in her room. Not really but he still hadn't given up on how weird it was that Uhura didn't ask about Spock. But she didn't really ask about anyone else so maybe he was reading too much into it.
