[Oh man, it would really make Kirk's day to find something of a strange man's in her room. Not really but he still hadn't given up on how weird it was that Uhura didn't ask about Spock. But she didn't really ask about anyone else so maybe he was reading too much into it.

Jim frowned to himself, bouncing on his heels a little as he knocked on Uhura's door.]

It's unlocked! [She was sitting at her desk, curled up in her chair as she looked over some sheet music she had found in the library earlier.]

[Kirk opened the door and stepped inside, looking at her like he was expecting her to hit him.]

"So this story?"

[She laughed.] Shut the door. [A pause as she gathered her thoughts. She was only going to tell bits of the story and embellish the heck out of it.]

Yes, the story. Has anyone explained to you what happens when you fall off the barge during a port?

"I'm pretty sure no one's really fully explained what a "port" is. But go on."

It's when the Barge stops somewhere and we all get off and have an adventure and then get back on after. Well, in this case, we didn't land so much as we did...crash. And people fell off. When that happens, you apparently replace some of the natives and lose all sense of yourself.

[She paused.]

"Wait, can you go back to the part where the Barge stops?" [Kirk asked, laughter in his eyes as he found a place to sit.]

"So I'm guessing I did something stupid. Go on."

[She rolled her eyes and leaned back in her chair, turning to face him.] You didn't do anything stupid, amazingly. You were actually leading a revolution. I worked for you, helping you out. We put out posters and did sabotage and...[She laughed.] I can't remember why, but we didn't have shoes.
