[Kirk's been on the Infirmary job for about a day and he still doesn't find it that difficult. Yeah, there's a lot of paperworky type stuff but it's nothing compared to the level that he found himself buried under as Captain of the Enterprise.
So he's kinda bored.
That means it's time to visit with the sickies.
Kirk tosses the PADD he was fiddling with onto the desk in Bones's unofficial office and enters the Infirmary proper. With a single glance around, he decides that T'Pol is the best choice and moves to her bedside.]
"Hey T'Pol. Feeling any better?"

Considering I was recently deceased, yes. [Which really means no, her head fucking hurts, her everything fucking hurts, and she's got dead people on the brain. But she'd rather not let Jim know any of that.
She does blink at him, though.] Where is Doctor McCoy?

[Kirk looks around for a chair and finds one to pull up to her bedside, sprawling in it before he adds:]
"You look good. For a recently dead person."

Why are you here, Captain?

[Jim just shrugs a little bit.]
"And I pretty much finished all the paperwork. So I thought I'd talk to you."

"I'm sorry that you were injured. If you need anything, just ask and I'll get it for you."
no subject
Thank you, Captain. [She paused a moment, shifting her head.] You were doing Doctor McCoy's paperwork?
no subject
[He pauses for a moment.]
"Don't worry, I'm not actually doing the doctoring. That's up to Peter and Martha."

[Jim ponders this for a moment.]
"The work he does here is nothing compared to what I did on the Enterprise."

[He sighed softly to himself.]
"Tell me more about your Enterprise. I don't think history books do a good job of presenting the whole picture."

Cocking her head to the side slightly, T'Pol pursed her lips thoughtfully.] The ship, or the crew?

Hoshi Sato was our communications officer. She has an exceptional ear and was, I believe, the first human to be fluent in Klingon. Travis Mayweather, the pilot, was a boomer, born on a cargo freighter. He spent more time in space than most of the bridge crew combined. Our armory officer, Malcolm Reed, is...quite logical. Doctor Phlox is Denobulan; I doubt he expected to say on Enterprise for a decade, but he enjoyed it quite a bit. They are an excellent crew. [And there's a suspiciously absent Chief Engineer.]

"Didn't you have a Chief Engineer?"

"Did you care about him?"

Yes.
no subject
"I'm sure that you have a lot of good memories of him."
no subject
Some. [He would be so offended by this.] He became pregnant, once. [So, so, SO offended.]

".... what?"

We came in contact with a group of Xyrillians. In their culture, males carry the fetus to term. Only minimal contact is required and, obviously, Humans are biologically compatible. [She could practically see Trip glaring. And trying to baby-proof the ship.]
