A Message From Your New Captain

[Much like when the Admiral makes his announcements, the voice of one James T. Kirk floods the hallways and rooms of the Barge and he sounds oh so very pleased with himself.]

Attention people of the Barge.

We've had ourselves a little adventure recently and I won't bore you with the details because it's a long though at times, riveting tale. So I'll just cut to the chase: our dear Admiral isn't running this thing anymore.

I am.

James T. Kirk for those of you haven't had the pleasure. Along with Captain Harkness and Captain Solo who is taking control of the helm.

And yeah. That's all.

Have a nice day.

[ooc: Plot questions go here. IC freak outs or congratulations or WTFGETDOWNFROMTHERE happen here.]

If you don't mind my asking, why did you take over the ship?

This is only one of many reasons

[identity profile] captain-jtkirk.livejournal.com 2009-08-02 05:49 am (UTC)(link)
Where I come from, I'm the captain of the Federation's flagship. I'm good at my job. Damn good at it actually. And after the ride that we've had recently, I think everyone here could use a vacation.

Is that a crime? Does that make me a bad person?
remarkablyblunt: (thinking... thinking...)

[personal profile] remarkablyblunt 2009-08-02 05:51 am (UTC)(link)
So you dislike the Admiral? You feel he handles the ship poorly?

[identity profile] captain-jtkirk.livejournal.com 2009-08-02 06:20 am (UTC)(link)
I've never met the man. I hardly dislike anyone that I've never met. I just am less than impressed by his piloting and how he runs this place.
remarkablyblunt: (poppycock and balderdash)

[personal profile] remarkablyblunt 2009-08-02 06:26 am (UTC)(link)
Ah. You feel you can do better, is that it?

[identity profile] captain-jtkirk.livejournal.com 2009-08-02 06:40 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, honestly I do. The utter lack of faith around here isn't going to deter me either, if that's what you're thinking. Back home, I'm up against an entire board of Admirals and probably half of the Federation that thinks I'm too young to have my post. I was determined to prove them and I'll do it again.
remarkablyblunt: (tea will fix that)

[personal profile] remarkablyblunt 2009-08-02 06:45 am (UTC)(link)
Do you expect us to go into battle, sir? It seems that your job would consist of, well, sitting in a chair steering, if you were to take permanent command of the ship. Sounds rather boring, if you ask me.

[identity profile] captain-jtkirk.livejournal.com 2009-08-02 07:07 am (UTC)(link)
Nope, no battles.

It's kind of something you have to experience. Being in command. It's very hard to describe.
remarkablyblunt: (poppycock and balderdash)

[personal profile] remarkablyblunt 2009-08-02 07:12 am (UTC)(link)
So this is to feel in control again?

[identity profile] captain-jtkirk.livejournal.com 2009-08-02 08:40 am (UTC)(link)
Are you implying that I would commandeer a magical prison ship to appease some neurotic control freak impulse?

[identity profile] captain-jtkirk.livejournal.com 2009-08-02 08:52 am (UTC)(link)
No. That's completely insane.
remarkablyblunt: (thinking... thinking...)

[personal profile] remarkablyblunt 2009-08-02 08:53 am (UTC)(link)
I see. So it was a humanitarian effort? You wished to free us all from the clutches of an incompetent leader?

[identity profile] captain-jtkirk.livejournal.com 2009-08-02 08:58 am (UTC)(link)
How long have you been here?
remarkablyblunt: (big smile!)

[personal profile] remarkablyblunt 2009-08-02 09:00 am (UTC)(link)
A few days, actually.

[identity profile] captain-jtkirk.livejournal.com 2009-08-02 09:10 am (UTC)(link)
Talk to me after almost three months here, three floods, two Inmates, one Inmate riot, all of the Wardens fighting with each other like overgrown children and you tell me there isn't a need for change.
remarkablyblunt: (poppycock and balderdash)

[personal profile] remarkablyblunt 2009-08-02 09:13 am (UTC)(link)
And you're the man for the job, eh? You're going to turn this place inside out and reform it?

So tell me true, Mr. Kirk. This was a purely selfless endeavor?

[identity profile] captain-jtkirk.livejournal.com 2009-08-02 09:16 am (UTC)(link)
Well I did think a little shoreleave was in order for everyone. Do you have something against vacations?
remarkablyblunt: (considering things)

[personal profile] remarkablyblunt 2009-08-02 09:18 am (UTC)(link)
Not especially. As long as there's free grub.

So you did this to help us all, with the added bonus of a vacation and being in charge while having said vacation? Am I getting warmer?

[identity profile] captain-jtkirk.livejournal.com 2009-08-02 09:22 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I'd say so.

Why are you asking me all these questions? Who are you anyway?
remarkablyblunt: (poppycock and balderdash)

[personal profile] remarkablyblunt 2009-08-02 09:28 am (UTC)(link)
Curiosity!

And my name is Tommy Beresford. Good to meet you, Mr. Kirk.

[identity profile] captain-jtkirk.livejournal.com 2009-08-02 09:43 am (UTC)(link)
You want something from me, Tom. Be honest about it.
remarkablyblunt: (tea will fix that)

[personal profile] remarkablyblunt 2009-08-02 10:02 am (UTC)(link)
Oh no, I'm just trying to figure out why you did it, that's all.

I thought I'd tagged this? Apparently I fail.

[identity profile] captain-jtkirk.livejournal.com 2009-08-03 08:11 am (UTC)(link)
Do you have a problem with any of the reasons that I've put down so far?

The first suggestion was sarcasm by the way. I'm sp fond of it.
remarkablyblunt: (I disbelieve your lies)

S'all good <3

[personal profile] remarkablyblunt 2009-08-03 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm merely observing, Mr. Kirk. Not judging.

Ah. That was sarcasm as well, correct? You see, I'm learning all sorts of things.
