.004 - Jesus got to him

[Carnival Filter]

You ever think, that the end of the day, we're just hurting ourselves?

We don't just live in sin. We make it, we invite it into our home and then we wonder why it turns around and bites the hand that's feeding it. We deserve better.

[Private to Father Prefect]

You listen to confessions or something?

[ooc: Preacher Prefect has been preaching at Kirk very convincingly. And with Angie and John leaving, plus Shinzon creeping on Leia, it's just adding fuel to the thinking storm in Jim's head. And when Kirk thinks, crazy impulsive ideas always come popping out.

What you need to know about Carnie Kirk: He and Morgan bark the cooch, most of whom he's related to, Jim himself has, uh... not been exactly faithful to his marriage, either actually selling himself on the sly or just fucking around with the other people in the carnival for funsies. It's cool to assume he and your character have had an affair.]

I roughed up a man I found trying to hurt my sister. And I ain't sorry I did it. Just sorry that she had to deal with it.

...In Sodom and Gomorrah, there was a bed of sin and wickedness. The Lord wished to strike it down and burn it to ashes, but two of his angels came to him, and asked if he would spare it, if could they find but one pure soul in the town.

The Lord agreed, and the two angels went town into Sodom, and met one good man there, who was called Lot. He embraced them as servants of the Lord, and welcomed him into his home. The other inhabitants of the town saw the two angels though, and they came to Lots door, demanding that he give them the two beautiful men, so that they could force themselves upon them. Lot tried to convince them otherwise, but they would not abate, so the Lord reached down, and struck every man in the town blind and deaf, to give Lot and his family time to escape, before he rained fire down upon them.

[He pauses, this is one of those heavy bible stories that he doesn't much like telling.]

The Lord asks us, as his children, to turn the other cheek when we are struck at. He does not ask us to force the same humility upon our sisters.

Private - sorry he's an uneducated sinner :C

Preacher, I don't really know what the fuck you just said.

If someone's going after me and mine, I'm going right back at them.

Private - It's cool, Prefect still loves him :c

It's a Bible story, about what the Lord does to those who... who mean to sin against women.

What I mean is, that I think He makes allowances for when you're protecting one who can't protect herself.

Private - Prefect's so great :c

Well good cause I ain't apologizing for it.

Private - No U, Kirk! No U!

If you don't mind me asking, why did you tell me this?

Not that I'm complaining, Brother, I'm just curious. Most people ask to make confession because they feel guilty for their actions.

Shit, I don't know. You just got me thinking the other day. 'Bout making an honest living and getting my girls out of this life. Cause I deserve it but they don't.

I--

Brother, If you need any help, the Church doesn't have a lot of money, but if you sincerely wish to change your life then there is no easy way to do it. I've seventy dollars in the church accounts, It's yours, if you'll take it.

Private - THIS IS SO TOUCHING :C

[identity profile] captain-jtkirk.livejournal.com 2010-09-21 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
I can't take your money, preacher.

Jim, please let me do this for you. The money belongs to the church, it could only go towards a good cause, and I can't think of any better cause than you starting a new life.

Thanks, preacher.

I'll see you soon then.

[No one came to prayers that day. Prefect stood - his face still bruised and scabbed from his fight with Neil - at the front of the church for fourty minutes, praying alone.

He couldn't blame them, really. He was their shepherd, and if he wandered from the flock, then there was no reason why they should do otherwise. When the time for prayers was over, he wandered to the vestibule, and got out the church's funds, counting out the money he'd promised the other man, as he waited for Kirk to arrive.]
