[Kirk's been on the Infirmary job for about a day and he still doesn't find it that difficult. Yeah, there's a lot of paperworky type stuff but it's nothing compared to the level that he found himself buried under as Captain of the Enterprise.

So he's kinda bored.

That means it's time to visit with the sickies.

Kirk tosses the PADD he was fiddling with onto the desk in Bones's unofficial office and enters the Infirmary proper. With a single glance around, he decides that T'Pol is the best choice and moves to her bedside.]

"Hey T'Pol. Feeling any better?"

[He's versed in your Vulcan ways but he decides to be nice and not make it completely obvious that he knows.]

"I'm sure that you have a lot of good memories of him."

[He can be decent! She appreciates this. And her mouth twitches once before she suppresses it, voice wry.]

Some. [He would be so offended by this.] He became pregnant, once. [So, so, SO offended.]

[Kirk stares at her for a long moment, before his eyebrow lifts.]

".... what?"

[He gets a little Vulcan smile for that. Her eyes crinkle. Basically. A little. Whatever.]

We came in contact with a group of Xyrillians. In their culture, males carry the fetus to term. Only minimal contact is required and, obviously, Humans are biologically compatible. [She could practically see Trip glaring. And trying to baby-proof the ship.]

[That's just... completely weird.

And he's a little jealous that she got to laugh, as well as a Vulcan can anyway, at a pregnant man.]

"Xyrillians, huh? How's about Vulcans? Are you compatible?"

[Baby-proofing the Enterprise. Just picture it. T'Pol arches an eyebrow.]

With Xyrillians? I did not endeavor to find out.

"Then it's up to dear Spock to test that."

[Jim winks at her, not being completely serious about putting his First Officer in the way of a group of aliens in hopes that he'll get knocked up.]

[Good thing, or he'd get the same lecture on keeping his hands to himself that she gave Trip.]

As Humans and Vulcans are compatible, it would seem likely. [T'Pol pauses a moment, considering before looking at him again.] Spock is half-Human, correct?

"Last I checked. I think that's part of the reason why he's... so easy to anger." [He rubs at his throat absentmindedly.]

[That gets an eyebrow.] He attacked you?

"Yeah, choked me over a console. But I provoked him, because I had to prove that he was emotionally compromised, so... I guess I brought on it on myself."

[Well. That. Well. Boy, you crazy.] I would be inclined to agree, but clearly he was emotional. [Which meant compromised already.] And you think it was possible, because he is half-human?

"I think it was easy to find a pressure point to dig in, because he was half human, yes. He did Vulcans proud though. He resisted longer than most people."

Than most humans, you mean.

"I don't generally make a habit of provoking Vulcans, so yes. Most humans."

[And it's time to dig on her pressure point.]

"Tell me more about your pregnant friend."

[Jim, you suck. And you love provoking Vulcans and everybody knows it. So there. T'Pol presses her lips together in a thin line for a moment.] Trip. He was an excellent Engineer. Though he had a tendency to put Enterprise in politically difficult situations. We wouldn't have been able to stop the Xindi weapon without him. [Jim can hear about missions. She doesn't plan on letting him in on personal details. Like the fact that Trip was present at her wedding, and that she almost didn't go through with it because he was there. chicks like their secrets. Even Vulcan chicks.]

"He reminds me of my Chief Engineer. I'm half afraid that he's blown the ship up during my absence. Or turned the whole engine room into some kind of distillery."

[Jim studies her for a moment.]

"I'll tell him that he has a lot to live up to."

Distillery? [What.] I doubt a Starfleet officer would engage in so ridiculous an activity. [...Wait he's joking, isn't he?] The cargo bay would be a better location.

[T'Pol nods once, studying him in return.] Quite a bit.

"That's what I told him." [That part's a joke. The rest of it... only half is. He really does have nightmares about the ship going down in flames because of Scotty.]

"What do you miss the most about him?

[Eh, it'll be okay Jim. Your biffle's still there. T'Pol's looking away again.]

I believe that's personal.

[Good work. Point him right at your weak spot.]

"Sorry. We can talk about something else if you want."

[...God damn it.]

Tell me about your Enterprise. [Which means yep, she REALLY wants to change the subject.]

"We already talked about Spock. You know Bones. I assume that you've met Uhura and Chekov. They're here if you haven't, so I'd recommend getting on top of that.

Sulu's our pilot. One of the best pilots that I've ever seen and he's pretty good at fencing too. That was surprising. And Scotty's our Chief Engineer. I found him on Delta Vega and I haven't been able to shake him since."

[The corner of her mouth twitches down for a moment.] Delta Vega in the Eridani System? That is barely a Class-M planet.

"Yeah, it's a piece of frozen shit." [Jim looks like he really hates that planet, which he does. If only for the giant monsters that tried to kill him.]

"Spock marooned me there."
