.021 - freedom, she tastes sweet
[Kirk's mutiny punishment is finally expired. So there is--somewhat childishly--a mop in front of Angel's door.
Now, to real business.]
[Private to Shego]
Why don't we play an actual game of getting to know each other? You ask me a question, I'll answer it. I ask you a question, you answer it. No lying. No passing on questions.

You might as well just accept that you might have fun today. It'll make life easier for both of us.
Private
Whatever. Where do I meet you?
Private
I'll come get you. Do you need an hour to make yourself look pretty?
Private
2) No. And even if I did, I would not go to the effort for your benefit.
Private
2) Oh good. I hate girls who are high maintenance. I'll be at your room in ten minutes then.

"Waiting impatiently for me? You really are the cutest Inmate in the whole world."
[Action]
Would you believe I have better things to do with my time? Let's just get this done already.
[Action]
"Better things like what? Talking to Bones about me? Yeah, I can see how that would really take up a lot of your time, sweetie."
[He doesn't know the details about that conversation, just that she and Bones talked and he'd never admit it, but he really, really wants to know what they said about him. Especially Bones since he's the one with all the insider information.]
"You might as well accept that we're stuck together. It'll be easier on your blood pressure in the end."
[Action]
[Then she shakes out her hand, relenting for the time being.] And as much as I would love to indulge your ego, we didn't meet up just to gossip about you.
[Action]
"I don't remember ever meeting anyone that goes by the name Jimmy, sweetie."
[It's only fair, if she gets to used a hated childhood nickname that he gets to call her sweetie.]
"Unless you got Bones laid, and then you can call me whatever you want."
[Action]
Why are you bothering with dragging me along on this adventure, again?
[Action]
[He leaves it at that because she's a smart girl and can put it together herself. Out of the two of them, Bones is way more likely to become psychotically jealous than Kirk is.
He follows her down the hall, matching her pace easily.]
"Because I'm in a good mood today and I thought you could share in some of the joy."
[Action]
[She emerges onto the deck level, then stops, letting him overtake her since she's got no idea where to go from here.] What've you got to be so happy about?
[Action]
[It's not like he doesn't have practice fighting while drunk. But he does tend to get harsher with his blows and he doesn't really want to be accused of beating his Inmate too.]
"My debt to the Barge is paid off as of today. I never have to touch a mop again."
[Action]
[Action]
[He smirks at her over his shoulder, sauntering off to the pub without making sure that she's following him because he's pretty damn sure that she will.]
[Action]
[Action]
[He's still smirking at her, if somehow even more smug now because his bet paid off and winning always makes him smug and insufferable.]
"I'll even be nice and make your favorite drink. So what is it?"
[Action]
Just pour me a soda, Jimmy. I never drank back home and I'm not gonna start here.
[Action]
"Sweetie, maybe you haven't been here long enough. This place drives you to drinking."
[He studies her for another moment.]
"You really never drank?"
[Action]
She trails off. Yeah, that sentence isn't going to end how it had formed in her head. "Whatever. Didn't see the point, didn't need the extra calories, needed to be sober to work. Are these counting as my questions, now?"
[Action]
[Jim still pours a soda for her, making sure it's a diet one because of her remark about the extra calories. He gets a coke for himself too, adding a shot of rum to it.]
"Yeah, sure. Now I know that you are a 'good' girl at heart."
[Action]
She finds a straw and shoves it in her glass with a slightly violent jab. "So, I guess it's my turn. Did your mommy not love you enough, or too much in a sick and wrong kinda way?"
[Action]
[He sips at his drink, rolling his eyes slightly.] "More the first. She was always off-planet when I was kid, left me with my stepdad a lot. We don't really keep in touch."
[Action]
But in response to his answer, Shego just nods. Not exactly the reply she was looking for, but it does reveal a vista of possible sore spots to jab at later if she feels the need to.
"Your turn. Let's get this over with," she says, like she's discussing a band-aid that needs to be torn off quickly.
[Action]
[Jim leans against the bar, fiddling with his drink, trying to make it last. It tastes better then anything he's had in a while. Probably because he didn't have to steal it from Bones.]
"That's it. That's my question."
[Action]
[Action]
[He eyes her for a moment, sipping at his drink.]
"I got dared to do it. Ironically enough right after a bar fight."
[Action]
She just stares right back at him when he answers her question. "That is the dumbest reason to embark on a career path that I have ever heard."
[Action]
[Kirk gives her a smug little look.
But she's right. It was a pretty stupid reason to hop on a shuttle and enlist in Starfleet, especially since he hated the organization so much.]
"It worked out pretty well. Besides, any chance to leave Iowa is one well worth taking."
Re: [Action]
She stirs her drink idly with the straw. "Iowa? Well, now it all makes sense." It's the truth. Even on her world, the entire state is a dump. Shego sips her drink and waits for Kirk's next question, not stupid enough to hope that he's given up.
[Action]
"You still haven't told me anything about your mother."

You are going to get smacked with that mop the next time Angel sees you.
