I don't think these things are malfunctioning at all but if it's just an excuse to roll call, then I'm Captain James T. Kirk. My friends call me Jim.
[He tips the communicator to the side, and there's Spock. Looking stoic as always.]
And that's Spock. Don't worry kids, he always looks like that. He won't bite.

[Leslie frowns, and reaches for another set of binders.]
I'm sorry -- I misunderstood and thought that you were a warden.
[Because he is friggin Spock. Needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few! COME ON, BARGE.]
Not that there is anything at all wrong with being an inmate! I've seen many people graduate and go on to become contributing members of society.

I am not at liberty to disclose the details, but she has encountered... difficulties in her journey to become an emotional being. I have been assigned to assist her.

I...see. [Okay. Inmate binder, away.] How is your relationship with Aya, so far? Do you meet regularly?
[Private]

That's good. That's a first step that a lot of wardens aren't able to manage. What about short-term goals?

What would you suggest?

[Okay. Leslie flips over to her "funtivities for would-be genocidal maniacs" section.]
In Aya's condition, I would say that forging a connection to emotional beings is all the more important. Perhaps some sort of job or project, where she has to rely on the help of others? Or even an activity where she has to at least process the emotions of others. I find that the arts can provide a good outlet for that.
