I don't think these things are malfunctioning at all but if it's just an excuse to roll call, then I'm Captain James T. Kirk. My friends call me Jim.

[He tips the communicator to the side, and there's Spock. Looking stoic as always.]

( GOOD. he doesn't want to see spock fly into vulcan rage because of him, no sir. )

I'm not sure if sleeping for that long will actually help, sir.

Twenty-four hours, sir.

( more or less, which is why kirk is still wired. but his current conversation with spock sobered him up, somewhat. )

People who prioritize their beauty sleep usually take less than that. Seven to eight, tops.
