Well, Flynn's gone. And there's a flood on that makes you people act crazy like usual.

"Call," Jim said, even though he had pretty much nothing in his hand anyway. "McCoy doesn't know me either, so we're kind of in the same boat I guess."

"I'm sorry." He reviewed his hand briefly and shrugged by way of his call before dealing the turn card.

That helped a little, in that he had a pair of fours right now. Which was still super crappy.

"The Admiral's a dick."

Merlin frowned. "He can be. I raise." His hand was terrible, but that could change whenever he wanted and it felt like getting Kirk drunk was something of a public service.

"I'm pretty sure taking people"s best friends out of their lives and memories for a few days is a pretty dick move." Kirk could get drunk on his own thanks, it was just less depressing with someone else there.

"I call and raise you again."

Also it was probably a good idea to do it in the company of someone who wouldn't let him choke on his own vomit.

"Call." He topped up the cup and dealt the last card.

Kirk had really never won with a pair of fours before but that was what bluffing was for.

"I raise you a load of laundry."

Merlin generally did his laundry with magic so that was a pretty empty threat.

"Call. I raise you two loads."

"Call." Kirk smiled at him a little. "What have you got?"

He offered back a small smile of his own. Three of hearts, four of diamonds - he turned over his own cards, a five and six - and the seven of spades.

"Straight."

"You win," Kirk tossed his hand down, facing down towards the table. "I don't iron things by the way."

"I use magic to clean my clothes so I wasn't really going to hold you to the laundry," Merlin said. He still pushed the cup of Gaius' mystery alcoholic fluid in Kirk's direction, though.

Kirk gave him a look that seemed to ask if he used magic to get that straight too before downing the cup. Which burned like hell and was fairly bad tasting to boot.

He coughed a little, shaking his head. "That is some strong shit, Merlin."

"It's Gaius'. For what it's worth, it wasn't strong enough to clean off the moustache you gave me."

"So it isn't good for cleaning or consumption." Kirk held out his hand for the deck of caards because it was his turn to deal.

"Seems that way. Although we don't have permanent markers in Camelot." He held out the cards.

Kirk took them and started to shuffle. "If you couldn't figure it out with your magic, then you deserved to keep it."

"I was worried about taking my nose off along with it. Tim sorted me out, anyway." He peeked at his two cards, expressionless.

"Good ol' Tim," Kirk replied, not looking at his cards at all before he poured a shot into the cup. "I still think you should've grown a real one."

"I just look scruffy when I don't shave." He rubbed distractedly at his chin, then added another shot. "I call."
