No comments on Bones' lack of memory ever.

"McCoy is here because I'm dying back home."

Her expression just went kind of flat.

"Why?"

Jim shrugged a little bit. "I didn't ask. I don't want to know."

"How could you not want to know? Do you even know when?" She tied the bow on her other boot and headed for the door.

"Soon. I'm the same age there as I am here," Jim answered, following her out. He was wearing running clothes because he wanted to literally run from his problems for a while.

Shego didn't really know what that meant because Kirk's temporal relationship between the Barge and the Enterprise had long ago become too complex for her to keep tabs on. If he said soon she'd believe that.

"So why's Spock here?"

Not that she couldn't think of several billion reasons; she was more curious to know if Spock had told him.

"He wouldn't say. I'm guessing nothing that had to do with me."

"Guess not." They emerged onto the deck and she frowned at the continuing state of decay; the murmurs of sound in the air, the rust. A skeletal leaf curled down from the dark and landed in her hair.

"I feel like all this means we're all going to die soon in horrible and grotesque ways," Jim commented, staring at the deck for a moment before deciding to ignore it and go straight for the CES.

She tucked her hands in her coat pockets and tagged along after him. "Halloween's coming up, right? 'Tis the season or whatever. I guess the Admiral thought we had an easy ride last year."

"I'm so thrilled for the nightmares and to bleed to death in the gym again then," Jim answered in a way that completely said he didn't care. Which, right now he didn't. It was the Barge. He had better things to brood about then dying here. Like dying back home, that was some serious shit.

"Uh huh." If she'd known what he was thinking, she would have told him to stop being such a little bitch. Pretty much the entire Inmate population had managed to suck it up.

"Might be nothing. Give a week. Admiral might be all 'hahah psych' and distribute baked goods, that'd be like him."

"I think he leans more towards the death and doom side of things still."

She frowned. "I know."

She hadn't exactly been expecting the CES to be a grey radioactive wasteland but it was still kind of a relief when it wasn't.

Kirk probably would've run through a radioactive wasteland anyway. "Still sure about your newly found sobriety?"

"Yeah, I am. I did manage my entire life pre-Barge without drinking, remember? It isn't that big a deal for me."

"How long does it take before functional alcoholism kills you, again?"

"Oh hey, maybe we worked out what McCoy's here to save you from."

"That hypocritical ass, I never wanted to see the other side of thirty anyway."

She just kind of looked at him. "Seriously, Kirk?"

Jim shrugged a little. "Well. Maybe I never expected to see it."

"Well, that's....still not great, but less suicidal, I guess? Even I saw myself making it to retirement." She paused. "Not that I planned on being older than forty when that happened."

"I'm a reckless idiot sometimes?" He offered by way of explanation because let's be real, that was all that it would take to kill him someday. "And you also fought a teenager who doesn't believe in killing."

"My world still had cops, Kirk. It wasn't all Possible all the time. Oh, and you'll notice little Kimmy seemed perfectly OK with killing about five seconds before I showed up here."
