.067 - this is how captains spend their holidays

Since it is a holiday and while I respect it, I don't celebrate or observe it. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in a game of chess. Or any other quiet type of recreation if you can think of something better.

[Private to Shego]

Let's talk.

[ooc; this is the type of chess Kirk plays. But. He also lets people win because it's hard.]

I am. Where do you want to go?

Does that matter? It kind of chooses for you.

You can influence it if you've got a specific destination in mind.

Well, it pretty obviously hates me because it has yet to be a decent beach even once.

Maybe it doesn't care either way because it doesn't have a personality and I'm just unlucky. Whatever.

You busy? I could use an hour or two of fake freedom.

I'll meet you on the deck in 15?

Private - Spam? It's cool if not, I heard you were busy :|

Sure.

And so Kirk is waiting for her, bouncing around on his feet because standing still for more than five minutes is a real crisis for him sometimes.

Shego emerged from the stairwell and made her way across the deck, rolling her eyes because even from a distance it was pretty clear that Kirk was behaving like an idiot.

"You might wanna lay off the sugar, Cap'n," she drawled as she approached.

"I'm like this naturally," Kirk said with a sort of dismissive wave of his hand as he glanced over at her and then nodded his head towards the CES. "Ladies first."

"Don't say that like it's a good thing," she muttered, going ahead of him and pushing the door of the CES open onto....

...a forest. Again.

"You see? This freaking place." Shego glanced around for a few moments, and the just-another-forest-ness resolved itself into something more familiar: a particular clump of trees, the faint scent of salt, the way a brook twisted and cut through the woods.

There was a brief clenching pain in her stomach that she would later identify as homesickness and feel annoyed about. She jacked a thumb over her shoulder.

"There's an ocean about fifteen minutes that way. But no beach. So it's still failed me."

"Where you thinking about a forest?" Kirk asked, glancing at her for a moment before turning his gaze back towards the forest. "Or maybe there's someone here already," he added, concluding his study of the forest and focusing his attention back to Shego.

"Would you be appeased by a nice pretty meadow? I'm sure there's one around here."

She oriented herself and started walking. The sea beat the forest by a long way. Maybe there was some sand somewhere she'd forgotten about. At least it was warm.

"Unlikely. There's forest for another mile, the Atlantic is this way, and there's a mountain in that kind of direction," she said, pointing as she spoke. She gestured to her left, roughly eastwards. "And....I don't know. Whatever there was before there was Go City, I guess."

"Oh mountain climbing," Kirk said, looking excited for a few moments. He had a lot of energy for some reason, and while a fifteen minute hike towards the ocean would take care of that, climbing a mountain would definitely exhaust him more.

"So this is roughly where you're from? Interesting. Maybe that's why it keeps showing up."

"It's never been here before," she said guardedly. "It usually gets stuck on the default setting, I guess. Or - y'know, world travel, all the forests kinda blend together after a while. I just happened to spend ten years babysitting my brothers in this one." Never mind that Hego was two years older than her.
