I'm actually curious, if you have had your birthday here or might have your birthday here and just haven't yet, would you count yourself as a year older when that day comes?

Or is this place so removed from your normal life and time that you don't think any time is actually passing even as you feel it dragging on you here?

Jim joined her a few minutes later, leaning his chair back a little. "Did you purposely go for the table with the least amount of lights?"

"Yeah, that'll stay true until the next time I push you off a cliff or whatever it is I do." She leaned back, slouching a little. "It's not like it was really him anyway. Or any of us."

"There's other people who work in there." Merlin for example. He could bully that kid into helping him instead of telling McCoy about anything.

"Yeah, but McCoy's probably the only one who's bothered memorizing the list of everything you're allergic to. And as far as I know the Infirmary doesn't actually stock leeches."

"Touché." She topped up her glass and waved the neck of the bottle over Kirk's in an offering gesture. "So does your obsessive need for me to tell you the truth cover awkward stuff you don't strictly need to know?"

Kirk grabbed the bottle from her, and poured himself a generous amount. "Well you can't say something like that and expect me to not want to know after."

Jim just shrugged it off. "Then the leeches were probably better than that."

"I don't really remember much of the flood in general. She spent like eighty per cent of her on-land time drunk and trolling for sex, not that you'd know what that's like."
